Transforming Your Life: Do’s & Don’ts

Hey guys! Long time no inspirational post, I should’ve posted this since March but No. 2 was all up in my business (when you read it, you’ll understand me).

Transforming your life involves going beyond the way you live and creating a better life for yourself. You should know that you’re capable of making the biggest transformation of your life. We all want to be the best version and not a second rate version. But it’s sad to know that so many people have lived their lives the same way for a period of time. In the process of transforming your life, you should know that you have to go beyond your current way of life and embrace new habits. You can’t say you want to keep living the same way if you really want to transform yourself, some things have to stay and some have to go.

Before thinking of transforming your life, you must first make a commitment, be true to yourself. Be sure that you know what you’re going into and know that what you want to achieve is the only thing you have always wanted.

I will be sharing with you the things you need to do and things you need to avoid in the process of transforming your life.

  1. Self Discovery: Don’t let the expectations and ideas of others limit who you are. If you allow them to tell you who you are, then you are living their reality not yours. In the process of discovering yourself, ask yourself questions, try and identify your gifts, know your strengths and weaknesses, be honest with your answers. Be you, do what matters most to you, do what makes you happy. There’s actually more to life than following others’ prescribed path, there’s more to life than pleasing people, it’s fine to share your opinion but do not let them take charge of you. Working on yourself matters a lot, you have to know what works best for you. You must take ownership of your life. The more you work on yourself the more you’re transformed into a significant person.
  2. Stop Procrastinating: Who doesn’t procrastinate? Virtually, everyone does. “I need to write a new blog post. Meh I’ll just do it tomorrow”. Happens to the best of us, doesn’t it? We put things off because we don’t want to do them, or because we have too many other things on our plates. It’s only human nature to put things off. Sometimes we mean to do it, and sometimes we are oblivious to it. We leave the important things (assignments and so on) to do things that are really not important (watching Tv, playing games and so on). Do the important things and get back to the ones that are not important so to avoid procrastination. When you need to get something done, do it immediately. Don’t wait for things to pile up before rushing to do it. If you want to stop procrastinating get yourself a “to-do list”, write the things you need to do and put a particular time beside them or you set an alarm on your phone. Procrastination only becomes a problem when you let it take control of your life. STOP PROCRASTINATING.
  3. Fear & Doubt: It was a major thing for me back then. We all experience fears and doubts, that’s normal. They’re enemies you must conquer at the initial stage. It’s what we choose to do about overcoming the obstacles and challenges that makes the difference between success and disappointment. Fear has the power to hold you back from taking risks, following your dreams, or becoming successful at anything you attempt to do. Fear stops you from focusing and achieving your dreams. If you want to conquer fear, you need to have faith. Action and hardwork can also help you conquer fear. Doubting oneself isn’t a good thing either, you can’t say you want to build an empire and not believe in yourself that you can build it. If you don’t believe in yourself then you can’t build an empire. You have to believe in yourself that you can do whatever you want to do and also be the best in it. You also can’t aim at achieving something if you’re afraid of trying again when you fail. If you’re doing something and still no good result, keep doing it until you get a good result. Don’t be afraid to fail.
  4. Start Living Differently: Yes, you need to start living differently. Start talking, thinking and acting differently. You have to implement your plans, monitor them and evaluate them on a daily basis.
  5. Surround Yourself with Positive People: People have a huge impact on your life. Some people can be parasites, they’re just in your life for no reason. They’re just there to suck out your happiness, use you and maybe some of your resources. In life, you need to express yourself, create things you love and learn to love what you create. Some of us have dreams that are lying dormant because the people around are negative. If the people around you are negative why not change the people you move with and then surround yourself with good people. The “good people” are not saints but they’re the ones that will inspire you to be a better person, cheer on your success. If you’ll change who you’re spending time with, people full of faith, people that will see your potential, then you’ll step up to a new level and see those dreams come to pass.

Surround yourself with people who make you happy. People who make you laugh, who help you when you’re in need. People who genuinely care. They’re the ones worth keeping in your life. Everyone else is just passing through. – Karl Marx

Transforming your life can be challenging, yet exciting and rewarding. If you want a more better life, then take some action today and start doing so.
